Esta celebraci&oacute;n de lucha de un diverso movimiento busca visibilizar y reivindicar el amor leg&iacute;timo y real, ya sea celebrado en una pareja heterosexual como entre las personas gays, lesbianas, bisexuales y trans, y hacer realidad el principio de igualdad que nuestra Constituci&oacute;n Nacional proclama: todos los habitantes somos iguales ante la Ley, y s&oacute;lo los mismos derechos con los mismos nombres abren el camino hacia la igualdad y el fin de la discriminaci&oacute;n.

Durante a&ntilde;os, la idea de que si dos personas del mismo sexo expresan su amor en espacios p&uacute;blicos (plazas, calles, shoppings, etc.) se resum&iacute;a en que estaban violando la ley o "quebrantando la moral y las buenas costumbres". Hoy en d&iacute;a celebramos este avance, ya que es sabido que las demostraciones de afecto en p&uacute;blico no son ilegales, que no hay ley alguna que estipule su prohibici&oacute;n, sino al contrario, que el art&iacute;culo 9 de nuestra Constituci&oacute;n Nacional dice claramente &ldquo;Nadie est&aacute; obligado a hacer lo que la ley no ordena ni privado de lo que ella no proh&iacute;be.&rdquo;

Durante la celebraci&oacute;n se realizar&aacute; un homenaje a Miguel &Aacute;ngel Auad (Petunia) y USHA, reconocidos activistas que participaron incansablemente en las actividades a favor de la igualdad en Paraguay. Sus discursos representaron el aliento para todas las personas que forman parte este del movimiento LGBT en Paraguay.

Rapid HIV tests are named so as the estimated time from the extraction, which involves a small finger prick, such as diabetes test, to delivery of the result is less than 15 minutes. Currently, the global guidelines of the WHO and UNAIDS point to start treatment immediately if a person discovers that living with HIV. If treatment is started as soon as possible, the immune system stays healthy. Another benefit to know early that one living with HIV is taking anti-HIV medication, anti-retro-viral or ARVs, the number of copies of the virus in the blood becomes "undetectable" and people living in HIV cannot transmit the virus to anyone else. This has been widely tested in several studies involving discordant couples (one couple in which one lives with HIV and the other does not) in all cases where the person living with HIV was undetectable, their partners were not infected. In Paraguay, the anti-HIV treatment is no cost to people and the State provides to all people in need. "This campaign promotes rapid test as it is the only sure way to know our HIV status. This event aims to highlight and claim the legitimate and real love, without distinction based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression. "Paraguay must realize the principle of equality that our Constitution proclaims: all citizens are equal before the Law, and only the same rights with the same names pave the way towards equality and an end to discrimination" mentioned activist Simon Cazal, Co-Founder of SOMOSGAY. "While the State does not recognize LGBT couples as equal, they will be sending out a message -from the authorities- that these couples, and therefore, the people who compose them, do not deserve the same respect", he added.
 Same-sex marriage has been greatly recognized as a subject of universal human rights supported by the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights within the United Nations, which considers that "marriage is a right belonging to all people, regardless of their sexual orientation".
 SOMOSGAY wants the State to recognize that all citizens are equal before the Law, so that we can build a more egalitarian society free of discrimination, a society that benefits us all as Paraguayan citizens.

On the occasion of Pope Francis&rsquo; visit to Paraguay, from 10-12 of July, SOMOSGAY launched a campaign inviting the Catholic Church to respect LGBT people, highlighting the official speeches that the Pope has given a couple of years ago.

The campaign was launched on social networks and billboards located in strategic places and routes that Pope Francis will visit in Paraguay. During the same week, the National Police announced that signs with messages concerning the legalization of abortion and the rights of LGBT people would be prohibited.

"It is a symbolic step, but very important. It can help change hearts and bring people to the movement. Mainly, it helps to dispel the false duality between being religious and supporting human rights and LGBT people. Both things can be done without prejudice and these actions help to add support of the people to fight against discrimination and homophobia" says Simon Cazal, co-founder and Executive Director of SOMOSGAY.

SOMOSGAY hopes that this gesture will help religious communities to embrace their LGBT members and respect our dignity. You can be gay, lesbian or trans and a Catholic at a time; there is no contradiction between being an LGBT person and being Catholic. Respect for personal beliefs is inherent to democracy.
