SOMOSGAY is happy to announce the series of workshops for families and friends of LGBT people in Paraguay, under the project Araroky Tava, driven by SOMOSGAY and supported by the European Union, Fundacion Triangulo and Spain’s Extremadura Agency for International Development (AEXCID). These workshops will take place on October 18th and 25th and November 1st and 15th, at the headquarters of the LGBT Community Center in Asuncion.
These workshops, conducted by experts Rossana Mayeregger, Yolanda Mujica, psychologist and sexologist Rosa Maria Appleyard and Beatriz Romero, wants to ensure a favorable social environment for active youth participation in the exercise of their Human Rights where families and other relatives can delve into the biggest day-to-day situations in the lives of LGBT youth, with reference to topics such as sexual diversity, human rights and discrimination.
The aim of these workshops is to create a space for socializing and sharing experiences leading to the involvement of parents and relatives of LGBT youth, so that they can share their skills, fears and challenges to improve the lives of LGBT family members. The program seeks to develop workshops on Diverse Sexuality, Human Rights, LGBT activism and HIV/AIDS, among others, to provide tools for dialogue between parents and their children.
Recognizing that the family is the first environment where young people get support and information, SOMOSGAY seeks to build a more egalitarian society free of homophobia for all.
