During the course/workshop on Advocacy for Organizations of the Civil Society, the SOMOSGAY CENTER welcomed Tony Reis and Pablo Britez, members of ASICAL and facilitators at the event. Both guests have a vast experience on the capacitation to LGBT organizations, in areas like strategical planification, organizational development, advocacy and project management. The visit of renowned activists was exploited by activists from SOMOSGAY to learn from their experiences in their respective countries.

The visit took place under the framework of a pleasant day organized by the team of SOMOSGAY participating of the cited workshop by Toni Reis and Pablo Britez. In this opportunity, the visitors expressed their congratulations to the activists from SOMOSGAY by the achievements in such a short time. They also made a reference to the great potential that the organization has in the physical space of the SOMOSGAY CENTER along with the restless spirit of its members that without doubt is the driving force of the organization.
The generation of alternatives of financing also was a topic discussed in the team of SOMOSGAY, who were encouraged to take advantage of the multiple options that are published in forums in which the organization participates. It is expected that with these tools obtained in the workshop, along with the capacities and resources that SOMOSGAY has, the implementation of several ideas generated in the team of SOMOSGAY IDEAS, the projects’ lab of the organization, will find support from different sources.
The volunteers from SOMOSGAY received an invitation to participate of the 5TH Meeting of ILGA-LAC. The 5th conference of ILGA of the Latin American and Caribbean region will take place in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil, from 27 to 30 of January of 2010.
