"As you know this is a very symbolic date, we are here making a clear political demand, we are breaking increasingly gray around us in the city of Asuncion," said Simon Cazal activist, founder of SOMOSGAY." If we start to think, 45 years ago that a group of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in a bar in New York where illegal for being gay or lesbian, opposed the police, took by assault the neighborhood for a week and this movement arose there, came dancing, celebrating and most importantly came protesting against injustice, that is our heritage. We declare the revolution of love and invite everyone to be part of it!" added the activist.
LESVOS sat presence during the event, mobilizing their activists. "Today our partners of LESVOS are very happy to celebrate our first LGBT Pride Parade as a social movement. We came to claim our rights and we mean that they will not silence us, we will revolutionize with love and joy. A year ago we decided to organize ourselves, to change and revolutionize and invite all to join to make it high the banner of equality and fight for our rights for Paraguay without Homophobia "said Monica Encina, spokeswoman for the organization, during her speech in the main event.
The "LGBT Pride Day" was born in the uprising of June 28, 1969, in a small bar in New York called "Stonewall Inn", where the first major confrontation between LGBT people and the police took place.
