The Paraguayan LGBT Federation held last Saturday, June 28 a new edition of the Lesbian Equality, Gay, Bi, Trans and Straight Equality Parade 2014. The cold and rainy day were not reasons to stop holding the parade opposite to the Pantheon of Heroes under the slogan "Revolution of Love", in commemoration of the International Day of LGBT Pride.

Around 02:00 pm. started the musical show of Usha, known artist of the LGBT community, also in charge of the presentation ceremony. Thee stage was also taken by Fabu Olmedo, Paraguayan pop artist.

At 03:00 pm, the rainbow flags, batucadas and posters filled with colors of Palma, Colon and Estrella streets, where more than 200 people marched, according to the report of the National Police. This year the event was supported by cabs, who joined the march with their vehicles which were decorated with balloons and rainbow flags.

"As you know this is a very symbolic date, we are here making a clear political demand, we are breaking increasingly gray around us in the city of Asuncion," said Simon Cazal activist, founder of SOMOSGAY." If we start to think, 45 years ago that a group of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in a bar in New York where illegal for being gay or lesbian, opposed the police, took by assault the neighborhood for a week and this movement arose there, came dancing, celebrating and most importantly came protesting against injustice, that is our heritage. We declare the revolution of love and invite everyone to be part of it!" added the activist.

LESVOS sat presence during the event, mobilizing their activists. "Today our partners of LESVOS are very happy to celebrate our first LGBT Pride Parade as a social movement. We came to claim our rights and we mean that they will not silence us, we will revolutionize with love and joy. A year ago we decided to organize ourselves, to change and revolutionize and invite all to join to make it high the banner of equality and fight for our rights for Paraguay without Homophobia "said Monica Encina, spokeswoman for the organization, during her speech in the main event.

The "LGBT Pride Day" was born in the uprising of June 28, 1969, in a small bar in New York called "Stonewall Inn", where the first major confrontation between LGBT people and the police took place. This marked a before and after in the LGBT rights movement in the United States, and marks the beginning of the LGBT revolution throughout the world to this day.

The brutal police attack on the activists who advocate for gay rights, occurred on Monday, June 2 as part of a peaceful demonstration, once again proved intolerant stance, promoting hate and contrary to all the rights and dignity of the Paraguayans that the Government sustains. It is for this reason that SOMOSGAY and LESVOS in this Parade began the Revolution of Love, a revolution that promises to build an equal Paraguay and reclaim joy and pride the right to a decent life, no homophobia, no sexism, full equality and freedom.
