In March 2014, the organization SOMOSGAY start training new volunteers with a series of workshops called "Community Agents" based on a comprehensive program of activists of the organization. This exciting program is divided into modules with a theoretical introduction to the topic, group work techniques and materials and other sources of research. The course is free and certified.
This course is developed for the third time in our country in order to emphasize the importance of education in everyday life, with the prospect of realizing the universality of human rights, and is aimed at young people and students of secondary and tertiary levels.
The training modules focus on Human Rights Education through the dimensions of knowledge transfer, skills development and attitude formation, allowing the creation of awareness of our common ground regarding the protection of human dignity. "Today we find ourselves in Paraguay at a key context, where more than 60% of the population is under 30 years old, which means that the chance of exploitation of the young component accentuated in the country in response to the various problems," says Adolfo Ruiz, program coordinator of Community Agents.
Community Agents, is an innovative program that seeks to train leaders , so that they are upright propagators of new paradigms in health and human rights. This program has the main support of the European Union and the Fundacion Triangulo. The European Union is an organization active in all political fronts , which promotes human rights inside and around the world. Human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law and respect for human rights are fundamental values. The Fundacion Triangulo is a nonprofit organization whose goal is social equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, that all people are treated equally regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
