SOMOSGAY, thanks to your help and others', is born in 2009 as the continuation of a dream turned into a collective project, that enriches, evolves and grows as it keeps adding more and more individual dreams to its caring steps.
Thanks to all of these dreams that contributed, in 2009, SOMOSGAY has accomplished:
The successful campaign "I AM GAY! MY FAMILY LOVES ME THE WAY I AM!"
The development of the day on Homophobia and the Media
The appointment of the first trans woman and gay male in the public function of the State.
The opening of the first Community Center "THE SOMOSGAY CENTER"in the country, Asuncion city.
The work carried out with the Vice-Ministry of Youth
Offering the Counseling and Voluntary Testing Service TESTFREE at the SOMOSGAY CENTER
Active intervention in the media since the beginning of its activities
Interviews and approachment achieved with the Secretariat of Women, Vice-Ministry of Youth, National Emergency Secretariat, The National Program of HIV/AIDS/ITS Control, and the consolidation of alliances with opinion generators such as Mario Ferreiro, Carlos Martini and Mina Feliciangeli.
The organization of the Week of Gay Fight Against HIV, that included a series of outreach activities in the country, a concert and scenic art at the SOMOSGAY CENTER, the exhibit of videos and debate, among others.
The participation of the members in capacitation courses and trainings.
The Talk Homophobia and Paraguayan Politics, within the framework of the Campaign Against Homophobia in Paraguay, with the presence of national authorities from the executive and legislative branches.
SOMOSGAY sticks true to its commitment and advances towards the horizon of a Paraguay free of homophobia in which lesbians, gays, trans and bisexuals can celebrate life next to their families.
