SOMOSGAY part of the Consensus Meeting on Treatment 2.0 : Expansion and Sustainability of HIV care in South America ( Buenos Aires , Argentina ) organized by the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization , UNAIDS, AIDS Division , Ministry Argentina Health and the Department of DST , Aids and Hepatites swerve , Ministério da Saúde do Brasil.
SOMOSGAY was invited to present to directors and HIV programs in the region, its successful model of community services for people living with HIV in our country. The objective of this consultation is to identify regional strategies and policy options for expansion and sustainability of care for people with HIV in South America.
At present, the near future of HIV treatment arises: " a single dose in a single daily pill." Furthermore we discuss further work in the area of HIV , which can be a symbol of health from a rights perspective . It takes speed access to early diagnosis with new strategies, as Massimo Ghidinelli PAHO and as studies show that there is still a very high number of people living with HIV without knowing it.
Improving access to diagnosis is the starting point for improving health in relation to HIV.
Getting tested for HIV should be easier if we fulfill the commitment states: 50 % fewer new infections. In Paraguay 60% of people living with HIV do not know . More importantly expand access to testing.
