SOMOSGAY attended the event called:"Decent job: without discrimination" organized by the Vice-Ministry of Work of the Ministry of Justice and Work. This event took place on September 24th at 3pm at the Bi-Chamber Room of the National Congress. Authorities of the Ministry of Justice and Work were present, among them was the Minister Humberto Blanco and the Vice-Minister of Work, Raul Mongelos.
During the event, the advances of the Ministry were presented in terms of job generation and a enhancement in the insertion of young people in the labor sector. Among the several achievements presented, it can be noted the resolution 730/09, that bans and punishes the discrimination of workers, making emphasis in the State or the supposition of a positive serologic status.
The event also had the participation of representatives of several union federations, representatives of the local and regional office of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
At the end several roundtables of discussion were set up that were seeking to incorporate contributions to the measures taken and impulsed by the ministry in terms of no labour discrimination. During these discussions, the members of SOMOSGAY, Derlis Viveros and Eduardo Figueredo, collaborated with elements to improve the working conditions of LGBT people and requested the Ministry of a Justice and Work to support more activities that support the elimination of discrimination because of sexual orientation and gender identity in the working environment.
The vice-minister of work agreed to have a meeting with the members of SOMOSGAY to have input of the entity in respect to the task of ameliorating the working conditions for LGBT people, making a n emphasis on young persons.
SOMOSGAY restates its compromise to improve the socioeconomic reality of LGBT people in Paraguay.
