SOMOSGAY organizes the "FIRST MEETING AND DEBATE ON HOMOPHOBIA AND PARAGUAYAN POLITICS" on December 17 of 2009 at the SOMOSGAY CENTER, located on Manduvira 367 between Chile and Alberdi. In this space, it was debated openly the several political figures in the different parties along with their respectives postures based on their political basis and their proposals to the LGBT community.
SOMOSGAY started the implementation of activities in order to generate a debate more open and democratic on the consequences of homophobia in regards to the rights of LGBT people in our country. We consider that one of the main points for revision are the positions adopted and encouraged by the several parties, in both, their speech and practice.
This exercise for us is of major importance if we really aim for the construction of a country with a solid democracy and well established on its social basis. To SOMOSGAY as an organization, this suggests the need to bring the debate to citizens in the widest manner possible.
SOMOSGAY will continue to generate similar spaces to promote the participation of citizens in the democratic processes, in order to strengthen the project of country free of homophobia and discrimination which we aim to build.
