SOMOSGAY makes a public call for young people interested in participating in the innovative program of Community Agents on Human Rights and Health, which aims to promote positive social environments for active youth participation and the exercise of their human rights in Paraguay, activity included into the "Araroky Tava", a project supported by the European Union, the Fundación Triángulo (Spain) and Extremadura Agency for International Development and Cooperation (AEXCID). This initiative seeks to train community agents of 16 years old and above with the best professionals from the country and abroad, developing a more effective leadership, allowing their relationship at different levels of policy planning and implementation of activities affecting them as youth population. The focus of the initiative is based on extending the lessons learned to their communities, as a form of community empowerment and advancement of human rights at all levels of social interaction. Methodology: The workshop series is divided into 10 sessions (Saturdays), with a charge time of four hours each. In the workshops, together with the team of professionals and staff of SOMOSGAY, the methodology of knowledge transfer to and between volunteers is applied with the use of workgroups as education model, where materials and research resources referred to the program are used. About the International Experience: In November 2013, over 30 young members of SOMOSGAY, the Team of Community Agents, representatives of LESVOS and VOX Civil Association, attended the Regional Meeting held in the City of Rosario, Province of Santa Fe, Argentina. Several people specialized in various fields served as support for the discussions during the meeting of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people. "Regardless of the path that we move towards as a movement, the ideal is not going backwards," said Sergio Lopez, Secretary General of SOMOSGAY. "Young people are responsible for further progress towards the full protection of human and civil rights of LGBT people not only in Paraguay and Argentina, but throughout Latin America."
