SOMOSGAY, with the mission of implementing its expansion project for health and overall wellbeing, opens the LGBT Community Center in Ciudad del Este.
The event, which will feature a toast, will take place on Friday 29 April from 18:00 pm. in the new headquarters in Pantaleón Aguirre almost Yatayty Cora in the neighborhood of Boquerón, Ciudad del Este.
Activists of Asuncion will be present as well as the new members of the headquarters of Ciudad del Este. The invitation is open to all who wish to participate.
Supported by ViiV Healthcare, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) and the Global Fund, this project aims to establish the first community center for the LGBT community in the region of Alto Parana and this will be an adaptation and expansion of the successful experiences from the center Community based in Asuncion, with the same services and conducting tests for HIV and syphilis in a free, confidential and voluntary manner.
Simon Cazal, co-founder and CEO of SOMOSGAY says:
“With this new headquarters we seek to extend the services of the organization to the second largest city in the country. This city, by being a border town, is exposed to more factors of vulnerability to HIV and other STIs, particularly in gay youth. The Center of Ciudad del Este, will be working together with civil organizations of Foz de Iguaçu and is expected also to have the support of the Department of HIV, STD and viral hepatitis in that city and the State of Parana, Brazil.
Thus, SOMOSGAY reaffirms its commitment to the community working on finding solutions in response to HIV and ending discrimination and homophobia in Paraguay, pointing to a primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, but above all aiming to improve quality of life of all people who come looking for services and information.
