The opening started with the words of Simon Cazal, representing SOMOSGAY, who reflected in the history of the LGBT movement and the contribution that SOMOSGAY makes by having a place like the CENTER opened. the fresh night attained to gather the LGBT public and supporters, reaching almost to 200 people attending the event.thanks to their wide comunitary base, SOMOSGAY holds this space and achieves to use it as a key tool in the mobilization of the citizens and the empowerment of LGBT people in Asuncion.
The broad participation of the communitary base of SOMOSGAY in the multiple tasks of THE CENTER, make it possible to offer a wide variety of activities and proposals, that the SOMOSGAY CENTER pretends to bring in the coming months.
Given the wide installations of the SOMOSGAY CENTER, the restoration and preparation tasks of the venue still are in the works. These are realized, by and large, by volunteers of SOMOSGAY, under the advice of professionals in tasks like painting, construction and others. This involvement of the community shows the efficacy of the model used by SOMOSGAY in its ideas: involve the greatest amount of people in its mission of the disarticulation of homophobia.
THE SOMOSGAY CENTER, will keep its doors open thanks to its expanded communitary support, thanks to which it pretends to widen the variety and quality of the activities and services that the organization offers.
