On Wednesday July 20 will be held the signing of the Interagency Cooperation Agreement between the Municipality of Asuncion and SOMOSGAY organization.
For the occasion a press conference attended by the Mayor of Asuncion Mario Ferreiro and Simon Cazal, executive director of SOMOSGAY will take place. It will be at the headquarters of the LGBT Community Center located at 1032 National Independence almost Manduvirá from 16:00 pm.
This framework Interagency Cooperation Agreement aims to develop actions in the areas of training and information on health and prevention, responsible behavior, gender equality, respect for human rights for the benefit of the Municipal Institution and citizenship in general.
Currently, the city of Asuncion and the Central Department are the regions of the country that carry the highest number of new HIV infections and STIs. Through this agreement, as part of the global campaign of cities against HIV, Asuncion would be added soon to cities like Paris, Montevideo, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, Rio and Santiago to sign a commitment to stop HIV by 2030.
These commitments focus on actions that seek to reduce the gap in access to treatment and HIV prevention through fixing, in turn, new goals for 2030. The aim 90-90-90: that is to get the 90% of people living with HIV know their HIV status, 90% of people who know their HIV status have access to treatment for HIV, and that 90% of people who live with HIV have achieved an effective viral suppression.
Thus, the Municipality of Asuncion with SOMOSGAY as a member of civil society, seek to address social problems such as homophobia, sexism and discrimination and formalize a cooperative alliance to define the tasks at all levels, especially those related to areas that serve the most vulnerable aspects.
