The new Holidays edition 2013/2014 of EQUIS Magazine was launched. In this issue, a special article is included saying that the family is the foundation of society, the first place of socialization, where we learn about our culture, customs and values. The support of our families is very important at different times in our lives, especially during the difficult years of our adolescence and youth. Although society has advanced in terms of respect for LGBT people, as parents, it is important to understand that being an LGBT person is not a disease and the support from the family is central to their children.

Known, adored and respected by thousands of Paraguayans, Menchi Barriocanal is like a warm and friendly myth that emerged in journalism three decades ago, and has since gained a solid reputation as a professional and as a person, very committed to children, human rights, the fight against discrimination and supporting the democratic awakening that is barely emerging in our society. "There is still an outstanding debt in the media on this issue of discrimination, there is still much to do because sometimes the media encourages intolerance" Menchi Barriocanal mentioned in an interview where she gives her views on discrimination in the media, among other topics. As for her opinion on  gay marriage she said "We all have the right to marry. There must not be first and second class citizens. Whoever wants to do it, must have every right to do it."

We also conducted an interview with Paraguayan filmmakers, Tana Schémbori and Juan Carlos Maneglia, creators of the renowned Paraguayan film 7 boxes. "I think the important thing in a family is love. The link between mom and dad is born from the true love to the person, the core that the Catholic Church teaches us of dad, mom and children is not precise nowadays" says Tana Schémbori on the adoption of children by LGBT couples. "When you discover what you want to do, you have to put passion into it because nothing replaces passion, this makes your ventures enjoyable, passion is the driving force behind this," is one of the conclusions of Juan Carlos Maneglia in an entertaining interview with the writers.

This edition includes a look into the details of the successful "Paraguay with rights, Human Paraguay", consistent to the International Day of Human Rights Campaign, an initiative that seeks to give impulses for the universal protection of human rights is a political priority.
