Over 20 team members of Community Agents and representatives of SOMOSGAY and LESVOS integrated the Paraguayan delegation that participated in the 22nd LGBTIQ Pride Parade, held in Buenos Aires, last Saturday November 9th. This year , the main theme of the parade was the claim for a "free secular egalitarian sexual education."

After the parade reached the Argentine Congress, the leaders of the different organizations made speeches which called for full enforcement of gender identity law, rejected discrimination and homophobia in the media and the enforcement of the media law, the legalization of safe and free adoption, among other claims.
The delivery of awards to various personalities and organizations noted for their militancy, visibility and advocacy of the LGBT community was also carried out. Such awards were given to President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, Education Minister Alberto Sileoni and Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice Eugenio Zaffaroni.
"SOMOSGAY, that's the name of our organization, we are from Paraguay where there is a breakthrough regarding the acceptance of our community, although there is also a conservative force that marginalizes us," said Sergio Lopez, representative of SOMOSGAY in an interview to " The Economist", a Mexican online newspaper .
"In Argentina the laws validated something that society accepted, but in Paraguay marginalization and social hatred persists. Then our struggle is reversed, so that we have laws that protect us and society begins to respect us," he said.
The LGBTIQ Pride Parade, which is celbrated each November in Argentina since 1992, was declared of "social, cultural interest and for the defense of human rights" by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires and culminated with a colorful musical show, with the presentation of artists and bands such as the Play Group, Camila, Susy Shok, Miss Bolivia and Poncho.
SOMOSGAY is proud to have been part of this iconic activity that seeks to build the road to the full observance of human rights, a society free of homophobia, inclusive and egalitarian.
