Posters, rainbow flags, red shirts, a lot of people and a large police custody were the protagonists of the mobilization called by the Organization SOMOSGAY against the Russian Embassy in Paraguay last September 3rd.
The activity began with a speech by Simon Cazal, founder of SOMOSGAY: "This is a clear signal and may it be lifted thanks to the voice we have, the fact that noise changes the story in different dimensions. Today, cities around the world are rising up against Putin, giving a very clear message that it is no longer as before you could do what you fancy with gays , lesbians and transgender people . It's time to raise your voice and never be silent."
These demonstrations were also performed around the world and carried out by the initiative of the Organization All Out, all of these against the attacks and violence against the LGBT community have soared alarmingly throughout Russia and before the imminent G-20 summit, to be held in St. Petersburg on September 5 and 6. There, Russian President Vladimir Putin will host world leaders like Barack Obama, David Cameron, Dilma Rousseff and François Hollande.
In our country, like in 34 other countries around the world, a letter of protest was delivered to the Russian Embassy to show solidarity with LGBT fellows who are suffering these acts of persecution.
In Paraguay, SOMOSGAY supports these initiatives repudiate homophobia and violence against LGBT people in Russia and around the world, with a commitment to fight for a just, equal , free and decent society for everyone .
