As in every year, on Friday May 16 the Kiss-in was performed, an initiative of the Organization SOMOSGAY commemorating the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. The Plaza de Armas, located in front of the Paraguayan Congress, was dressed in the colors of the rainbow for this celebration where LGBT and heterosexual couples participated.

Under the slogan "All we need is love" and the participation of many members of the national and international press, the Kiss-in was attended by deputies Rocio Casco and Karina Rodríguez, who year after year demonstrate their support for this activity .

"The date of May 17 was installed globally as a date for claiming the fight against homophobia and against the source of the homophobia that has to do with ignorance, with obscurantist thoughts who are alien to science. So today, like every year we invite people to join us in front of the National Congress, which is the residence of the power of a republic, and demand that the Republic of Paraguay recognizes full equality of rights for all "said Simon Cazal, Executive Director of SOMOSGAY in an interview for the newspaper Ultima Hora.

"The only thing that Paraguay has different in relation to the Middle East is that homosexuality is not punished by law between adults, but then we have no legislative framework to protect us," concluded the director SOMOSGAY in an interview for the digital portal Ejempla.

Through this and other actions, SOMOSGAY is looking to banish that irrational thought of hatred towards gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and sensitize the citizens in order to revive hope and diversity that characterizes us as Paraguayans.
