THE SOMOSGAY CENTER is located in a key zone for the LGBT community of Asuncion, since it is not far from a popular meeting spot, two hundred meters from "Hollywood Dance", one of the main LGBT discos in Paraguay. The interest of SOMOSGAY in having its community center in this zone is due to its mission to maintain close to the necessities of the LGBT persons of its city. The SOMOSGAY CENTER will host the office of SOMOSGAY, but its main goal will be to offer a safe place for meetings, artistic, cultural and leisure activities; of people and groups that do not have other place to perform or carry out these.
This new space, with its privileged location, will also offer a series of services that will be expanded gradually by SOMOSGAY. the first of them will be the provision of male condoms for free and in short a counseling service and free testing in a weekly basis. The Center will host the Ciber Cafe CondomBar, an endeavor designed by SOMOSGAY to promote in a creative manner the use of condoms, the care and self esteem through the use of interactive media.
Another one of the spaces of THE SOMOSGAY CENTER will be the prepared is a center of reference and documentation on human rights, sexuality and topics related to sexual diversity. This center of documentation will be the home to Homonoi, the specialized editorial by SOMOSGAY which will seek to facilitate the access to scientific information for teachers, students and the general population, establishing the necessary bonds with the local and international academic sectors.
THE SOMOSGAY CENTER aims to turn gradually into the physical manifestation of the mission of SOMOSGAY: involve the greatest amount possible of people interested in equality for everyone, as an effective tool for the mobilization of our communities and as a means of demand to the paraguayan society free of homophobia, sexism and discrimination.
SOMOSGAY restates in its mission to achieve this society as a reality for the paraguayan citizens.
