This National LGBT Congress will hold the National Meeting of Parents of LGBT People, with a series of workshops conducted by Yolanda Mujica and Ms. Eugenia Insaurralde, with a strong experiential component, where family members can delve into the biggest day-to-day situations with reference to issues on sexual diversity, human rights and discrimination.

The path that the National LGBT Congress starts is a series of departmental and municipal conferences, which will gradually be developed at medium term, in which the discussion of the main political demands of LGBT people will be discussed. Several issues are expected to be covered in this National Congress, such as labor, justice and public safety, health and welfare, sport and education for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, aimed at outlining strategies to strengthen LGBT citizenship to combat violence, homophobia and discrimination.

Sergio Lopez, activist of SOMOSGAY mentioned that “this is an historic opportunity for LGBT people to be heard and build political demands mobilization to various government institutions and civil society”.

This National Congress seeks to bring together activists from around the country to keep advancing the consolidation of a social justice movement that supports the construction of a Paraguayan society without exclusions.
