Commemorating the International Day of Fight Against Homophobia and Transphobia on 17 May of 2013, SOMOSGAY presents the KISS IN Campaign in front of the Congress. We are inviting all gay, lesbian and heterosexual couples who wish to join this activity to demonstrate that love unites us and should not be grounds for discrimination. Also everyone who wishes may take part in an impromptu dance called the "Global Rainbow- Flashmob " to be held that day.
On May 17, 1989, the World Health Organization stated that homosexuality is not a disorder or a mental illness, but a legitimate expression of human sexuality, but despite that this prejudice still exist. Since then, this date is remembered in a global event, organized by the International Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual and Intersex Association (ILGA) and the International Committee of Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO).
Homophobia reinforces a culture of rejection of people with different sexual orientations. SOMOSGAY looking to banish homophobia, the irrational thinking towards gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans, stigmatizing these groups, putting them in a position of inferiority, taking away rights and acting from the deepest ignorance.
As part of this global initiative in Paraguay 2013, the KISS IN also seeks to sensitize the citizens to take advantage of this day to revive the hope, diversity and peace in the world, without distinction of sex, gender, or of any kind.
