SOMOSGAY, commenced its work as a partnership of solidarity committed to the innovation of effective strategies against homophobia; improved HIV and AIDS prevention; and the defense of human rights in Paraguay.
SOMOSGAY is committed to achieve a Paraguay with dignity, equality and health, bringing down the inequalities based on sexual orientation and gender identity; and defend the advancement of human rights of gays, lesbians, transgenders, bisexuals and their families.
We recognize the Guaraní language as the principal cultural heritage of our nation; we express our vision in our motto in Guaraní ÑANDE JOJA HA RORY (WE ARE EQUAL AND WE ARE HAPPY).
As an organization we claim our heritage of the Guaraní nation, marked by its fight against oppression, inequality and violence. We restate our path towards the Yvy Marane’y (The earth without evil) of our ancestors, a society where we, as Paraguayan citizens, can live without exclusions and with dignity.
In our strategies we focus on innovation and solidarity, they both act as key axes. The hope for a better country leads our path in areas such as political advocacy, education, raising awareness, and cultural change.
SOMOSGAY dreams with a country where homophobia, sexism, inequality and violence, are all part of history.
SOMOSGAY marks the beginning of a new phase in the path towards that dreamed country.
