This event took place on 20 and 21 August at the Plaza de los Heroes in Asuncion and 22 and 25 August in the Parque Verde in Ciudad del Este and was made up of days with massive testing for HIV, distribution of basic information modules on HIV and STIs and delivery of free condoms. In total more than 200 rapid HIV tests were conducted and over 3,000 information materials on health, human rights and HIV were distributed.
This is the first great Latin American route aboard Condomovil, whose purpose is to cover 16 countries starting from Mexico City to Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile. In total there are 155 days and 16 countries in the route, fully terrestrial, Mexico to Chile and Chile to Mexico , aboard the Condomovil , operating in 60 cities and have been distributed in total 200,000 male condoms, 100,000 based lubricants water 2,000 female condoms and 5,000 HIV tests were conducted.
Condomovil is a campaign that came in 1998, and is dedicated to promoting acceptance and correct use of condoms and promotion of free and voluntary HIV testing. It has the support of AHF (AIDS Healthcare Foundation) whose headquarters are located in Los Angeles in the United States and works since 2007 in the countries of Latin America, providing access to timely diagnosis for early treatment, using rapid HIV tests.
