Since the emergence of HIV more than 30 years, our communities have been the pioneers in giving response, face an unknown virus and force our governments to take responsibility in ensuring the right to health . We have gained much, have virus treatment , know their routes of transmission , we know how to prevent new infections and stay healthy as when we lived with him in our bodies.


At the World Conference 2012 , held in Washington , have shown us that a world without HIV is possible if as a society we will: 1. Extender and accessible treatment to all who need it , 2. Making prevention is an integral part of health policy , employment and education 3. Extend the use of condoms and lubricants, accompanied by adequate information to different audiences and 4. Promote policies of equality, human rights and full inclusion to banish homophobia and discrimination in our culture.
There are an estimated 33 million people living with HIV worldwide , about 20,000 of them live in Paraguay .
So today more than ever , we call rekindle the spark of solidarity and understand that while one of us or live with HIV , ALL live with HIV and it is our responsibility to respond to this epidemic as a community united in solidarity. We also call to promote further claim full citizenship , full respect for human rights in a society that allows us all and keep us all healthy and happy .
The main monument of the city of Asuncion , the National Pantheon of Heroes red lights along this week as a symbol of solidarity that unites us in this cause and reminding the comrades we've lost along the way gone . The week also distribute condoms , lubricants, informational materials and HIV rapid test for the entire population are offered at different points in and around Asunción . On Friday 30 December, at 18hrs , a central act is performed in front of the National Pantheon of Heroes with activists and leaders of various organizations working to promote human rights in our country.
From SOMOSGAY firmly believe that solidarity is the way a Paraguay with zero discrimination and zero new cases is the goal.
