The organization SOMOSGAY and the DIVERSA network, with support from the European Union and the Triangle Foundation, presents "Paraguay with rights, Human Paraguay" campaign to commemorate the International Day of Human Rights. It aims to position the universal protection of human rights as a political priority, with the prospect of creating a culture of protection of the human dignity of all people.
This campaign seeks to promote individual and collective human rights of all Paraguayans, mobilizing people, so that each and everyone can become advocates. Also, the idea is to contribute to realizing the principles of equality, freedom and inclusion, principles underlying the Constitution of the Republic of Paraguay and numerous international treaties that the Paraguayan State has signed and ratified, but which has yet to comply with.
The campaign aims to strengthen the participatory, inclusive and full democracy in the country, which has the strategy based on the recognition of diversity in society and the application of the principles of equality, non-discrimination and full exercise of human rights.
Anyone can be an advocate of human rights, and strive to promote, either from settled intergovernmental organizations in major cities around the world to people who work in their local communities.
Human rights are the substrate upon which our Paraguayan society must nourish to change the history of violence and conflict that we drag along with humanity. Hence the true importance of knowing about them and use them as instruments of protection for everyone.
As an organization, we are proud of our heritage and Guarani language , marked by their struggle against oppression, inequality, violence, in its walk towards the yvy marane'y (the Land without Evil), paradise on earth, a society where all Paraguayans can live in an inclusive society with full dignity . We at SOMOSGAY we believe that human rights not only delineate patterns and behavior concepts to follow, either individually, and socially, but it is the genuine basis upon which all other rights are structured.
