In the morning of Wednesday, June 17, Dr. Miguel Pedrola, Vice Director of Latin American chapter of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) and SOMOSGAY representatives held meetings with officials and authorities of the Direction of Health Surveillance of the Ministry of Health and the National AIDS Program for Control of HIV and STIs (PRONASIDA), with the objective of exploring proposals for work towards the implementation of new actions to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV in Paraguay.
In Paraguay, AHF provides funding for the full operation of Kuimba'e, the first clinical health and welfare for man, which provides counseling and voluntary testing for HIV and syphilis, along with reference for diagnosed cases on any of these diseases. AHF established its first clinic in the capital city of Asuncion in 2013 with support from SOMOSGAY. The clinic focuses on HIV/AIDS prevention services for men who have sex with men (MSM) and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community.
The Men’s Wellness Center (MWC) contributes significantly to the early detection of HIV in men, so it is a very effective initiative for identifying new infections. At Kuimba'e, you can get a full battery of tests of sexual health in one place. All services are completely confidential and there is no cost to users.
