On Saturday 22 June, from 10 am, we celebrate proud to be who we are. In the iconic Plaza de los Heroes, opposite to the National Pantheon of Heroes, will take place the EQUALITY PARADE for Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Straight 2013, commemorating the International LGBT Pride Day under the theme "Building a Paraguay more inclusive". This year, we remember all lesbian and trans women, big Paraguayan Residentas who face discrimination and homophobia in our country.
The "LGBT Pride Day" was born in the uprising of June 28, 1969, in a small bar in New York called "Stonewall Inn", where the first major confrontation between LGBT people and the police took place. Approximately 300 men and women were arrested after 3 days of intense protests by the ruthless discrimination to which they were subjected by law enforcement, purely and simply because of their sexual orientation.
