&nbsp; During the commemoration, Dr. Samudio highlighted the joint work that is being done with PRONASIDA and organizations of civil society. The National Plan for Sexual and Reproductive Health includes non-discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity. During the visit of the rapporteur, the Senate held a debate on the situation of transgender women and met with several senior officials who are aware of the specific characteristics of this group.

However, LGBT people face significant obstacles to the full enjoyment of their right to physical and mental health, especially because of the deeply entrenched discriminatory attitudes in society at large, which carry stigma, violence and abuse. We recall the events of more than a year, where young LGBT rights activists were brutally repressed in the framework of the 44th Assembly of the OAS, after organizations that call themselves "pro-life", who appeal to hatred in order to cast a vote on Sunday, persuaded the police to act violently.
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Approaching the most reactionary part of the Catholic Church speaks of a validation of the latter of the policies of the national government.
