SOMOSGAY participates in the LGBT exhibit VISIBLE 2009 in Paraguay

SOMOSGAY participated in the Spanish LGBT exhibit VISIBLE 2009. In its opening act, the attendance of the members of SOMOSGAY took the most part of all participants. During the same, a round table was carried out that included the participation of a Pablo Peinado, curator of the exhibit and director do the association VISIBLE, Myriam Martinez Elcoro, director to the Centro Cultural Español Juan de Salazar, and Simon Cazal director of SOMOSGAY.

SOMOSGAY will give a letter to the Public Health Ministry against homophobia in Paraguay

On August 25th, at 10 in the morning, Simon Cazal and other members of SOMOSGAY turned in a letter requesting the Public Health Ministry to recognize homophobia as a public health problem and proposes an approach to the State Secretariat to develop along with it strategies that face several consequences of this problem in the health of the Paraguayan LGBT population. The government is committed to respond to the letter sent, giving space to a meeting with the members of SOMOSGAY in the next couple of days.

Soon “The SOMOSGAY Center”

SOMOSGAY in its commitment to better the quality of life of the Paraguayan LGBT citizens, will offer soon the opening of the Community Center SOMOSGAY. This will be place that seeks to offer a home for the birth, care and celebration of our organizations, institutions, cour culture, take care of our people and groups in need; educate the public and our community in the diversity that characterizes us.

SOMOSGAY supports the Spanish exhibit LGBT VISIBLE '09 that will take place in Paraguay

SOMOSGAY invites and supports the traveling exhibit called "Visible Collection of Contemporary Art" organized by the Centro Cultural Español Juan de Salazar of the Spanish Embassy in Paraguay, that will give beginning to one of the biggest festivals of gay culture in the world. In its 2007 edition, this festival included over seventy cultural calls, over a two month period. This included areas such as plastic arts, theatre, cinema, conferences, presentations and a college course. As of today this exhibit brings over one hundred and sixty pieces from one hundred and thirty countries and it continues to grow thanks to donations. The final objective of this exhibit is to create a Museum or Center with international reference specialized in the LGBT culture in Spain. This exhibit is visiting cities like Sao Paulo, Mexico, Lima, Cordoba, Buenos Aires, Miami and on September 7th will start in Asuncion.
