On Monday May 17, 2010 , at the International Day Against Homophobia, SOMOSGAY held the first "Kiss-In Paraguay 2010" in public, where several gay, lesbian and heterosexual couples kissed in front of the National Congress. The campaign that accompanied this activity seeks to sensitize the Paraguayan citizens about homophobia and its impact on the reality of LGBT people.
The campaign resulted in a successful campaign showing two same-sex couples , dressed in traditional Paraguayan clothes. These images have been taken by SOMOSGAY as its corporate image because of their huge acceptance in the public.
On May 17, 1989 , the World Health Organization stated that homosexuality is not a disorder or a mental illness, but a legitimate expression of human sexuality, but despite that this prejudice still exist . Since then, this date is remembered in a global event organized by the International Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual and Intersex Association (ILGA) and the International Committee of Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) who celebrate this day through actions (exhibitions, film screenings, debates, performances, demonstrations, radio or television, or other), launched by individuals, associations, institutions, municipalities and governments in more than 60 countries on all continents, seeking to raise public awareness in their countries.
